SculptureFest 2011: Interview by Dina DuBois

Film maker and journalist Dina DuBois interviews Roger Goldenberg, a visual jazz artist and this year’s featured artist at SculptureFest 2011 held annually in Woodstock, Vermont. Goldenberg tells about his kinetic sculpture, his artistic process and philosophy while being interviewed the day following the opening celebration and artist reception at the Davenport Sculpture Farm. Dina Dubois paints a visual story describing the sculpture; All The Colors, A Visual Jazz Suite, depicting its delicate design, grace and durable engineering that allowed the site specific piece made of birch and watercolor paper to survive Hurricane Irene as it danced in the site’s 5 acre field.

Part 3: Spontaneous Combustion – Mike and Roger Q and A Session

Part 3 is the Q and A session for Spontaneous Combustion, the improv performance featuring celebrated recording artist, pianist Mike Melvoin and Roger Goldenberg, nationally known visual jazz painter. During the 10 minute jam session at Dartmouth Colleges Hopkins Center on June 15th, 2009, Roger and Mike conversed in their respective mediums, Mike on the Centers Steinway and Roger with his selected brush and black paint. During the final two minutes each artist traded fours, concluding simultaneously to the applause of the enthusiastic, enthralled Dartmouth College Class of ’59.
