Roger and Daedalus’ Big Idea

Roger’s November and December 2015 News: Upcoming Performances and Exhibitions.

Hi friends and arts and culture lovers. This November and December is a busy time for me and everyone. However, I think you will be interested to know of the following events in which I am involved.
————————————————————————————————
At the Portsmouth Discovery Center: Jay Goldsmith’s portraits of 30 local artists. Each artist will have two pieces accompanying their portrait. The exhibition is called This is What Artists Look Like. The show runs from November 5th through December 24th. The gallery is open daily, 10am – 5pm. The exhibition is very eclectic and interesting. Also, as a bonus, a topnotch kickass pastel exhibit with some gritty use of the medium is in the lower gallery!

The discovery center is located at 10 Middle Street, Portsmouth, NH Tel. 603-436-8433 and info is at http://portsmouthhistory.org/this-is-what-artists-look-like/

————————————————————————————————
Visual Jazz Performance on November 20th: I will be performing my visual jazz as a guest artist with SoJoy, a jazz ensemble of world class jazz musicians who perform original music by Jonny Peiffer. The performance will be at the Dance Hall Kittery, beginning at 7:30. Also featured as guest artist will be poet Sarah Anderson.

Opening reception: December 3, 2015. 5-7 PM.

29th Annual Button Factory Open Studios and Friday Night Preview !
Friday Night Studio Preview: December 4th, 5-8pm
Saturday and Sunday Open Studio and Hallway Bazaar: 11am – 5pm
I highly recommend coming on the Friday night event. JUST the artist’s studios that are open at that time. Nothing will be in the halls yet.

Roger Goldenberg’s Inspiration Banners add dynamism and warmth to AVA’s already inviting foyer

At the Leeds “Platinum Certified” AVA Gallery and Art Center Roger Goldenberg’s Inspiration Banners can be seen to add colorful joy to the smart eco-design of the building. AVA’s Director Bente Torjusen remarks that not only are there ecological benefits from designing a Leeds Certified 21st Century building, such as energy savings, use of recycled materials, and utilization existing structural elements rich in history, there are subliminal benefits. The Leeds design involves consideration of passive solar and as a result the interior spaces have a luminous quality. This creates an uplifting, elevating feel which affects ones spirit and mood. This light and the warm hues of the antique hardwood floors create an inviting environment in which to create art, meet like-minded art buddies. Often it is just these qualities that lure the curious minded or  unsuspecting passerby to walk in to enjoy the original artwork on the gallery walls or to sign up for art classes and workshops. In the foyer photo, Roger Goldenberg’s Inspiration Banners add to the energy and warmth of AVA’s magical world. Here is an article in NATIONAL TRUST FOR HISTORIC PRESERVATION magazine featuring Bente Torjusen and a brief pictorial review of the AVA Gallery and Art Center.
